Where to start, Operative?
We’ve concluded your initial physical exams, psych evals and testing. Looks like you made the cut and met Dr. Jessa Carter. She’ll be your commanding officer from here on out in conjunction with Lt. Col. Stone. With both of them at the helm, you should be guided just fine. Any additional questions may be directed to them at this time.
So let’s debrief.
You first mission as the new Valkyrie operatives was to secure some stones that are hidden all over God’s green. Her report here states that ex-Clio ops died getting the first tablet…tragic. Seems they went to an island in France? Mont Saint Michel? One moment let me gather that report.
Mont Saint Michel, France
Looks like they arranged an extraction with ASOCOM to pick them up but as they stayed a firefight ensued. The reports here say that the monks pretending to tend to the monastery were actually an ecclesiastical order known as the Sons of Belial. They seemed to have discovered these “Sons” doing some pretty dark shit that has been redacted from my report… damn.
ASOCOM has reports on these Sons, seem to be radicals that have gone by many names. Our records indicate their existence in the 12th and 13th century… then nothing, until the death of our ASOCOM troops… good thing they radioed in so we could extract the seal.
Once we got the seal, that is when we started scrambling for new operatives. Col. Stone pushed heavily and we assigned two dozen teams to comb through over 10,000 potentials. You all were selected.
What? What do you mean why did we scramble? Because of Dr. Carter…she said she found something. Her report indicates that if the Sons held one of these stones, it’s likely that they held more. Further research indicated that Rosslyn Chapel in Edinburgh, Scotland may hold some clues to the next fragment of the stones.
So you fly to Glasgow, debrief there, take a Willy jeep across the green and into Edinburgh and drop off some magazines and morale boosters for the front linesmen. You say that the streets were quiet and you saw no jerries or tommies anywhere in the field beyond the checkpoint? Strange…
So what happened then? Your report says…
“We secured a perimeter around Rosslyn Chapel, all the while we heard firefights off in the distance, with the Luftwaffe buzzing over head in scratch with the Royals. Then an explosive rang across our ears.”
That’s when the firefight happened, right? You said an unknown group of men blew up Rosslyn Chapel!? Why would they do that! Oh… not the entire Chapel, just a pillar inside. Ok ok, so a small personnel charge… but they said nothing was there? You sure that is what you heard?
Blaise speaks in fluent German to remind him that she is, in fact, fluent
“Ok ok, so someone else got to it before you AND the Germans? And the German who ran the Blutzkreuz agents was none other than Hauptmann Klaus Orbst per Carter’s intelligence. Interesting… that ex-nazi son of a bitchin’ German has been a bit of a needle in the hide of ASOCOM ops for several years now. He’s owned by Sigrid herself. Shit, if they’re involved, something has to be up.
Anyway, a firefight occurs; you shoot Orbst and they run away into the chapel and slip out the back. Then what?
Whoa. A Messerschmitt swooped down and ran a devil’s piano across the chapel hall!? That place is from the 13th century! What’s with those guys!?
It says here Lieutenant McCool hopped on the 50 cal AA gun and pelted the son of a bitch as best as he could, but he kept diving and eventually resorted to dropping bombs? At least you guys got out of there…
A 1940’s Messerschmitt AXIS warplane.
So the Warmacht ace flew away… Cuervo said he didn’t seem to have the intent on killing the AA gunner… mainly the building? Hmm. Dr. Carter said this is when she came, after the fire fight. She thought you all were dead. Wow.
Please let me know if this is accurate, it’s a quote from Dr. Carter’s intel:
After spending a substantial amount of clock time within the poor ruined holy site, we determined that Orbst and his men blew up “The Apprentice Pillar” within Rosslyn Chapel. The pillar itself was hollowed out, but inside held a clay shaped seal of the old world Templars. It had been exactly as I predicted from my initial research. The Sons of Belial may be tied to the Templars in some way, or another order we have seen within the last year called the Order of the Baphomet. Though I am not certain at this time of the orders, I was – however – safe in my affirmations in sending the Valkyries to pick up the Copper Scroll at the British Museum in London, due to the relationship between the Temple, Rosslyn and the Templars.
This is where the Report gets a bit confusing for me. So forgive me if I have any additional questions. Dr. Carter then sent you to pick up the Copper Scroll for what? How does the copper scroll relate to Rosslyn?”
The radiant Mrs. Bancroft coughs a bit. “May I explain?”
Bancroft smiles. “Dr. Carter mentioned to us in passing about an old fallout between Napoleon and his admiral, Horatio Nelson. During their campaign in Egypt Admiral Nelson and Napoleon seemed to have a bit of a tiff after the discovery of an ancient treasure. Nelson won in a full out naval battle; no lives were lost but they dramatically parted ways. Nelson fled to Jerusalem and Napoleon went by way of history. Well, no one really knew why… or at least as Carter’s research suggests, why Nelson went to Jerusalem. However, as by way of Bonaparte’s droves of treasure he brought to Britain, he left a copper scroll. According to Dr. Carter, this scroll may prove the presence of the Ark of the Covenant at a particular place in time, hopefully matching up to this complicated tale we have woven. So did Nelson actually decipher the copper scroll and head to Jerusalem because he outwitted Napoleon? Or was this a coincidence? Some things in history, stay buried in history.”
“Oh, I see, but how does that Relate to Rosslyn Chapel?”
Bancroft thinks for a moment. “Carter said that Rosslyn Chapel was halfway built as a Cruciform. Cruciform structures were built by, or for, the Templars in the 13th century. The Temple of Solomon, while never confirmed entirely, is believed to have been a Cruciform as well, the reason why the Templars built their temples and religious sites in the same fashion. The Temple of Solomon is said to have been located at Temple Mount. It’s clear that it’s not just luck that has the Templars, who protected and excavated the Temple of Solomon, associated with both the half-built cruciform of Rosslyn AND have their stamp secretly sealed in the pillar. They are obviously connected. Though…”
“Though what?” he says, interested.
She continued, ”Though we don’t know what is on the scroll we extracted from the Museum, we encountered Klaus Orbst again… with a contingent of Blutkreuz enforcers following his lead. He was there taking the scroll; one step ahead of us again. I’m not sure where his information is coming from.”
Emerson interjects, blue eyes narrowed. ”It’s likely that they have someone as educated in the subject matter like Dr. Carter. Or maybe they have an artifact of their own…”
Temple Mount, Jerusalem
The soldier coughs, ”Well… so now what? Does this cover everything? This explains why she wants you to go to Jerusalem, and all the tidbits. Although I’m sure there is more… it is Dr. Carter after all.”
McCool leans forward, a warm beer in his hand with some propaganda smeared across the side in French. “Eh, she didn’t really say much… we were hopin’ to get tha info when we came climb’n back’eah. Cartah is a strange one, I don’t like much bein’ in tha dahrk and all.”
Cuervo stands up, “Which is precisely why we came here. Why we need your radio. To open the broadcast and dial in and figure out what the hell is on this scroll. We went through hell and back getting this, krautz all over the streets and SvS Walkers. Our report is thorough enough, now I’d appreciate it if you’d stop wasting my… er, our time. Give us the tuner.”
Hope you guys enjoyed the read. Ernesto you may want to ..research a bit to pull it all together. TLDR; You guys were told that the Ten Commandment pieces were broken through history/moses. Commandments were set in a holy box/cargo called the Ark of the Covenant. Ark of the Covenant has horrible stories revolving around it (look it up). The Dr. doesnt believe the Ark exists at all, maybe a box they called it but certainly not real. Besides, the box itself has never been found its only been in historical archives. The Blutzkreuz agents of Nazi Germany are one step ahead of you guys with each location (indicating they have a researcher or better info). The Nazi dude is named Orbst. You went to Scotland to check out a lead that Dr. Carter had regarding the templars and Sons of Belial and it lead you guys to Jerusalem, but she needed to be 100% sure so she sent you to pick up an old copper scroll that would confirm a date/time that has yet to be really elaborated on.
I just want to say that I’ve been having a blast with this campaign. I haven’t had this much fun since old Iron Kingdom days. The world this book paints and being wrapped into America/Earth history harking back to the lost days of old and freemasons, etc is just awesome. I can’t wait for Saturday; especially since i think we have combat down.
Ernesto since you missed a few, go ahead and take 2 IP so you’re not too far behind.
